Product Description

The Burndy PAT46-18V crimping tool is a battery actuated hydraulic crimper that produces 15 tons (13.6 metric tons) of force and is suitable for crimping a range of copper terminals, splices, and taps. It has a forged steel C-head crimp mechanism with 355-degree head rotation and 2″ jaw opening for flexible access to tight work spaces, and a retractable assist handle for improved balance during use. It comes with a high-impact plastic carrying case to hold the tool, a battery charger, two 18V nickel–metal hydride (NiMH) batteries, a retention lanyard, and die sets. This crimping tool is suitable for use with stranded copper #8 American Wire Gauge (AWG) to 1,500 circular mils (kcmil) code cable, navy cable, flexible and extra flexible 1/2″ to 1″ ground rods, and aluminum code cable from #8 AWG to 1,250 kcmil.

Crimpers, also called crimping tools, pinch wire terminals and connectors to wires to prepare them for use in electrical or communications applications. They have nests and indenters that vary in size and shape according to application. Manual crimpers are suitable for portable applications that create small terminal connections while power crimpers use air, electricity, hydraulic power, or a combination of these to aid compression, and are used in high volume applications. Crimpers can be used for applications ranging from manual field repairs to fully automated terminal production operations.
